The original AVoice of the Milwaukee Bucks@ was known for his innovative radio play-by-play style that incorporated such a unique variety of original phrases that he published a dictionary of his phrases that sold millions of copies. He began his career as a disk jockey at WKRC radio in Cincinnati in 1961 and after brief stops in Toledo, Ohio, Gary, Indiana and Flint, Michigan, signed on with WRIT Radio in 1963, where in less than 5 years, he became one of the top rock >n= roll DJ=s in Milwaukee. He began his full time sports broadcasting career in 1969 with the expansion NBA team, the Milwaukee Bucks and served as their radio and TV play-by-play announcer for 16 years. He later was the play-by-play announcer for numerous sports for the USA network for 9 years. Overall, he broadcast NBA games at the local or network level for 30 years. Well after his career as the Voice of the Bucks ended, he continued to have a presence in Milwaukee through the MACC Fund, the Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, charity which he co-founded with Milwaukee Bucks star, Jon McGlocklin, during his time with the Bucks. The MACC Fund through 2010 had raised over $40 million and established a cancer research facility in Milwaukee.
